I would like to welcome all those who give their time and effort to help us in our classroom.  Both the students and myself greatly appreciate it. As most of you know, because of the budget cuts in our district we are short on some technology that will benefit our children in the future. Thankfully, the PTA has been tremendous with helping us and is continuing to fundraise. I am not asking for money but just a little of your time to fundraise for your children’s’ education.

I completely understand the concerns some of you have brought to my attention about technology having a more of a negative effect on the children rather than a positive. I am well aware of the video games that are played which seem to take over our children’s lives. However technology is a very important tool to incorporate in our classroom for many reasons. This link provides the top 10 reasons why technology is important to use in a classroom: Math Open Reference

-New media for self-expression: Most of the kiddos in our classroom have difficulty with writing and other fine motor skills making it harder for them to share their feelings  with others. Technology gives our children tools to express themselves in ways other than writing instead they can record themselves, show pictures, and even type what they have been wanting to express to us all along.

-Individual pacing and sequence: This gives the students the luxury of being able to go back to previous lessons and go over them more than once if they have not understood the lesson taught.

iPad
Along with a smart board in which all students can use, an iPad is for all of them also. Even though it is a small tool it will still be put to great use in our class. Not only would it be a great reinforcer in our classroom where students will actually get to work for it but they will also have educational applications in which our students can benefit educationally from. I would now like to thank you all for taking the time to read our classroom blog and to want to get involved to benefit your children. Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and questions for me to answer. Remember our children are our future!
